Careers at Adventure Pack
Adventure Pack is hiring dog hikers, dog walkers, and trail leaders in Westchester County, NY. If you love the outdoors, love dogs, and want a job that gets you off a desk and onto real trails every day, we want to hear from you. We're a small, close-knit team that takes dog care seriously — and has a lot of fun doing it.
Why Work With Us
Adventure Pack isn't a dog-walking app or a franchise. We're a locally owned team founded in 2020 by Dany Torres right here in Westchester. Our people are the reason families trust us with their dogs, and we treat our team accordingly.
- Work outdoors every day. No cubicles, no fluorescent lights. You'll spend your shifts on trails in Saxon Woods, Kensico Dam, Cranberry Lake, and dozens of other parks across Westchester.
- Small packs, real relationships. You'll get to know every dog by name, personality, and quirks. Our groups stay small (4-8 dogs) so you can give each one real attention.
- Safety-first culture. We invest in training — canine first aid, behavior assessment, emergency protocols. You'll never be thrown into a situation without preparation.
- Clear communication and respect. We set clear expectations, give honest feedback, and value your input. No drama, no micromanagement.
- Flexible scheduling. We work around your availability. Many of our team members are students, athletes, or people with second careers who value non-traditional hours.
Open Positions
Trail Hike Leader
Lead small groups of dogs on 60-to-90-minute trail hikes across Westchester County. You'll pick up dogs from their homes, drive to trail locations, manage the pack on the trail, and return them safely.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, shifts typically 8am-2pm
- Requirements: Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, comfort handling multiple dogs off-leash, ability to hike 3-5 miles in varied terrain and weather
- Experience: Professional dog handling experience preferred but not required — we train the right people
- Pay: Competitive hourly rate, discussed during interview
Dog Walker
Provide 1:1 walks for dogs throughout our service area — Scarsdale, Bronxville, Rye, Eastchester, Harrison, Tuckahoe, Ardsley, and White Plains. Ideal for someone who prefers solo outings with individual dogs.
- Schedule: Flexible, Monday through Saturday. Morning and midday shifts available.
- Requirements: Reliable transportation, comfort with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, ability to walk 30-90 minutes per session
- Pay: Per-walk compensation, discussed during interview
Weekend & Boarding Support
Help care for boarding dogs on weekends. This includes morning and evening routines, supervised yard time, walks, feeding, and enrichment activities at our boarding facility.
- Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, morning and/or evening shifts
- Requirements: Comfort with overnight-stay dogs, attention to feeding schedules and medication routines, calm and patient demeanor
- Pay: Competitive hourly rate, discussed during interview
What We Look For
You don't need a degree in animal science or ten years of experience. We care about character and fit. The right candidates share these qualities:
- Genuinely dog-obsessed. Not "I like dogs" — more like "I would rather spend my day with dogs than people."
- Physically fit and outdoorsy. You'll be hiking trails in heat, cold, rain, and mud. This is not a desk job.
- Reliable and punctual. Dogs and their families count on us showing up on time, every time. Consistency matters more than almost anything.
- Calm under pressure. Dogs pick up on energy. If two dogs get into it on the trail, we need someone who stays steady, not someone who panics.
- Good communicator. You'll send photo updates to families, coordinate with the team, and flag any concerns about a dog's health or behavior.
What the Job Is Really Like
A typical day as a Trail Hike Leader looks something like this:
- 7:15am — Check today's pack lineup and route assignment in our scheduling app
- 8:00am — Start pickups. Drive to each dog's home, greet them, get them loaded safely.
- 9:00am — Arrive at the trail. Do a safety check, assess energy levels, and head out.
- 10:45am — Hike wraps up. Basic cleaning and towel-dry for muddy pups. Snap photos and videos.
- 11:00am — Start drop-offs. Return each dog home, make sure they have fresh water, send updates to owners.
- 11:30pm — Second group pickup (if scheduled). Repeat.
- 3:00pm — Done for the day.
You'll come home tired, probably muddy, and smelling like wet dog. But you'll also come home knowing you gave a bunch of dogs the best part of their day.
